Guild Wars 2

still not a fan of Elementalist's attacks underwater, they are very underwhelming.
Yeah underwater combat kinda sucks, I've had moments where I'm a god on land but second I gotta fight under water I'm tissue paper. Sadly the term god is figurative as I do go down a bit like everyone else but being able to take on a titan without it murdering my butt made me feel like a god so..yeah great I still loathe Decima and I got Ura stuck on the rim of the stage so she didn't move and I basically laughed at her as I struck that one down. I..am looking forward to the next story update though I ran out of new stuff and now being reminded I hate Orr as I gotta tread through it again on Elementalist lol. I mean not the zombies or the zone just the dumb statues and the fact there's never anyone around to turn them off when they ignite. Also finding elementalist doesn't got much for defiance break so... this is going to suck at one point.

I've also started collecting but not using essence of luck, thought I could craft legendary luck but sadly nope but exotic luck is needed for a ton of stuff so I'll convert lesser ones to that and stockpile it lol

Best I can try for this is hammer :
  • Air attunement, skill 4 is an AOE knock-down, and skill 5 is an AOE stun.
  • Earth attunement, skill 5 is an AOE cripple.

As for utility, I use Glyph of Storm (specifically with Earth attunement).

Spear gives me some for water, namely a whirlpool that yanks foes and limits movement but yeah wind and earth seem to be the ones for that. Weaver allowing me to use both at once has saved me a couple times but I've yet to actually get the moves for it yet. Weave Self sounds wild but we'll see how that one goes whenever i reach it. Is Harbinger good btw as I hear people talking of it a lot lately?

A whole lot of fun, definitely my favorite. The Blight effect that reduces your max health doesn't sound all that bad, to be honest. I run two builds for Harbinger :

- Base Necromancer gear (vitality, power and condition damage), with pistol/torch and scepter/dagger, focusing on condition damage. The trait Parasitic Contagion (5% of condition damage heals you) of the specialization Curses works very well with this.

- Reaper gear (power, toughness and precision), with longsword/longsword and axe/longsword, focusing on raw damage and health-siphoning. For this, I use the specialization Blood Magic with trait Vampiric (siphon health with all attacks) and Vampiric Presence (same as Vampiric but for allies too) to increase my damage output while keeping myself alive, and pair with trait Deathly Haste (quickness on interval) to attack as fast as possible to optimize the health-siphoning damage and heal.

Though, personally, I prefer the one with Reaper gear. Always super satisfying to have constant quickness.

Hmm is it a good idea to touch it before you master it as that blight might eat you alive without the abilities to cleanse it at times. Spent so much time looking at Reaper I haven't looked at the other two although the path of fire one talking of its cloak being a cloak of sand seems odd in its own right

Oh no, Blight doesn't kill you, since it only REDUCES MAX HEALTH, not directly damaging you. It has a cap at 25 times for a total of 37.5% maximum health reduction (PvE), and there is the trait Alchemic Vigor which heals you every second for every Blight stack you have. Pair it with the traits Vampiric and Vampiric Presence as I mention above, and you can reliably heal yourself while focusing on attacking. Also, you can't remove Blight on your own either, it only goes down when you're out of Shroud.

Scourge (from Path of Fire) is for support, I think, since it focuses on granting barrier to negate damage. I prefer Reaper and Harbinger though.

Ah okay as what I tend to do is when my character enters End of Dragons I swap their class to the spec from the expansion to at least try it out but also as the collection for the ascended weapon each hero spec offers requires you to beat the content as said spec. I normally always use vampiric and the aura as well so sounds like it'll work out alright. Just didn't know how far blight went but yeah I'm avoiding Scourge as more often than not people want damage out of me in group events not support, some groups seem to bring their own support as well. Gotta love the leech a necromancer has though, my sister would of fallen in love with them if she'd not quit two minutes in unaware the red thing on her gal's face was a mask she could toggle off. Really no pleasing her as far as games these days, she demands I play WoW with her but she's never on or up for it when I am... I offer the idea of guild wars 2 to her and she barely touches it then says it's not for her lol.

I at least try out EoD specs but ones I'm more inclined to stick with atm may be the one for Mesmer as well as the ones I already use like engineer's mechanist and the Willbender guardian. Not sure atm how the revenant one will work out for me, the thief one involving scepter kinda messes with the idea I intended them to be like an assassin with a sniper rifle, then the ranger and elementalist ones invovle hammer which I've got no idea about as I never got to really make much use of it before. Warrior's one might be interesting to see how it plays out and well Harbinger as well but again we'll see how things go. Quietly hoping the voice lines make it into the game in spots they were missing although it was odd but well...one of the ladies in Repentance is missing her lines but she's not charr or sylvari. Has me wondering if their voice actress is also upset atm, not saying who or well...their race as I don't wish to spoil anything. Doubt it'll be a thing but all the stuff with Poised Arrow makes me wish for playable Kodan

Elementalist hammer is actually pretty solid in my opinion, literally one weapon that works well with all 4 elements. Though, I'd recommend focusing between fire (medium-range and high burst damage) and earth (melee to avoid projectile reflection, good AOE) ; air is more 'secondary' for crowd-control, and water for some emergency healing.

Ranger hammer has solid crowd-control, and hammer is also the only weapon with skills changed when Unleashed (Untamed), where instead of crowd-control, it grants boons, but the damage is still very good.

I will never understand the idea of having to pay MONTHLY to get full access to all contents and features of a game. It'd stress me out thinking that if I don't play the game every single day (or gods forbid, every 3-4 hours), I'd miss out something, and worse, I'd feel like I've wasted the money I paid. And I have other things to do than having to worry about if I have played the game enough so that my money and time wasn't wasted.

Well, I was wrong. There ARE still people doing Heart of Thorn, after all. As I'm writing this, I just finished the Dragon's Stand meta, and so I finally got the last item needed for the Warmaster Backpack.

Almorra is full glory again.

Although, I'm NOT gonna select any stats for this one, nor am I putting any upgrade in it, despite it being an ascended item. I think I prefer to just leave it as it is, for the looks.

Either way, Almorra's quest line is completed for me, I've honored her as best I can, and I can rest easy now.

I'm sure she'd be quite happy with how you've honored her too, in my case I honor her by wearing vigil gear and having a mini version of her tag along on all my guardian's adventures. Little Almorra has seen the world thus far and she'll get to see much more as new content comes out. I..still gotta recall which of my order of whispers characters I had fond of their charr buddy as I finally got a mini of him for them to have tag along with them to honor him too

I'm glad I was using Dragonhunter gear (full offense, power / precision / ferocity) during the fight, otherwise I wouldn't have made any significant damage, and it probably could've been a fail. Also quite poetic and fitting that she'd be a Dragonhunter to take down the elder dragons.

i definitely have Vigil skin for the equipment she wears, though I don't think I have a mini version of her yet.

Still, I am finishing Icebrood saga so that Almorra can get back at it (even though I'm probably not gonna like dealing with freaking Braham) and continue her legacy. Icebrood saga is not where her journey ends, I am certain of it.

Think I got a mini of her from icebrood saga, one of the golden hearts I think sold one to me. Sadly yeah I understand the beef with Braham, he's kind of a worthless fool. The second he stopped being involved with the story I was so glad as all he does is complain or throw a fit about everything, Eir would be so sad to see how crappy her boy is. You do sadly find out what he's been up to in Janthir's story but besides looking like crud I'm just glad he's not in the way anymore

Of all the characters that I have met and journeyed together, Almorra is the onky one that sticks with me the most. Rytlock, Rox and maybe others... I dunno, don't really much of a connection with them. Not to mention, I think that regardless of the order you joined back at the base game, Almorra is still with you.

As for my son, he has a major crush on Tybalt... and was equally heartbroken when Tybalt died. My son told me, there'd only been very few times he felt so connected and attached to a character before, and Tybalt is one of said few times~
There's no way you could forget to mention about my crush on Tybalt, mom:-) That definitely how mothers function, and absolutely that's why I love you so much~

Yeah seeing him forced to pick between his mate or his son like that and having to kill his boy was a sad moment. Maybe..it's a good thing he's not part of the squad anymore, he can mourn his boy and get back to a normal life now. Loved seeing the former iron legion guy get sniped though, well deserved after he killed Ryland's girl right before his very eyes

I tried to look through the story again, but I can't remember who this 'former iron legion' one for the life of me. You said 'sniped', so I'm guessing the Iron Imperator, Smodur ?

EDIT : Found it. Yeah, Smodur did kill Ryland's lover, which was a bit much. Poor guy lost his lover but then went too far off the deep end and had to die at the hand of his own father.

Yeah Smodur, guy was annoying as he acts more like blood Legion is supposedly. For an iron Legion imperator I thought he'd be at least smart but nope he causes a lot of issues and deserved what he got

So... remember when I said I'd complete End of Dragon story on all of my characters ? I'm not sure I can anymore, because the meta event at Dragon's End map really breaks my heart.

Having to watch Soo-Won suffer in pain while the Void corruption possesses her and eats her alive inside out, is terrifying. Now, whenever I see signs of the Void in the world, I feel uneasy and nervous, worse than Zhaitan, Mordremoth, or anything in Secrets of the Obscure. Then, listening to Soo-Won's reflections and regrets about her wanting / failing to be a mother for the other dragons, is just too much.

On top of that, I can't help but remember that Aurene was born without ever seeing her own mother Glint, without so much as a hug, without any physical contact like the elder dragons had with their mother Soo-Won, yet Aurene has to bear the burden of killing off her whole family for the sake of the world. The only other one that was alive during her time and actually an ally instead of an enemy, was her brother Vlast, but he was killed by Balthazar. So, Aurene really had no-one left to call her family, except the people, the 'mortals'.

This DLC really manages to make me feel extremely bad, far worse than all others.

I've not played a lot of the living world chapters involved with heart of thorns but I can at least imagine that Caithe and the mortal champion (the player character) who basically raised Aurene did at certain points give her the love of a parent in our own ways. Secrets even has a moment where you can make your character gush about how adorable baby Aurene was as their happy memory so she did get love but yeah it...did come off rather sad how we finally found a good elder dragon of the original bunch and the void takes her from us and poor Aurene. First time Is aw Soo-Won in that machine I was furious as why should she be captive like that but later finding out she asked for that.... was truly a sad story but at the very least we let her pass on in peace free of the void as we did Kralkatorikk who to my surprise wasn't the hateful dragon he's painted as its just the rage and torment of his power going nuts drove him to all the stuff he did, to actually hear that big crystal dragon practically beg us to end his life was shocking. The dragon void is some nasty stuff, hoping it Aurene won't have to endure it's corruption as it'd kill me inside having to fight her or even end her. Aurene is a wonderful young dragoness and I hope we get to see her again on positive notes later in the story. Vlast... never got to meet his baby sister but from his memory crystal he didn't need to meet her to have a strong sense of love for her wanting the best for her

On another note I didn't realize right away but to hear the passive dialog between legendary spirits your revenenant has active and the player character you gotta master their talent point tree. Hearing my revenant be called sister by the charr spirit for renegade was a happy surprise, although dialog between that one changes as if the revenant is a male charr she calls them brother and female charr are called sister. She really tears into humans though lol

If it ever comes to that (which I really hope it won't), at the very least maybe she joins her family in the Mists and no longer separated. But, yeah, I really don't want to see Aurene suffer that much, she's already had to go through far more than enough, even for an immortal being like her.

This DLC, and Living World season 4, really show me the disastrous drawbacks / consequences of having too much power but not able to contain it. Outside Guild Wars 2 and more in RPs, if I ever feel weak and powerless, this is my reminder that too much powers still doesn't mean everything (and sometimes it doesn't even mean anything).

Definitely makes you feel proud of playing as a charr, for sure... but super awkward if you play as a human (lol). Though, I imagine that for the centaur spirit, I'd play a Sylvari instead.
