Hya! Come on in, weeelcome and get cozy. <giggles and motions to the large couch> This is the place where this veeery giddy kitty reports on a movie or TV show after soaring on some catnip and trying to give his thoughts as they float randomly around his silly tingly noggin <blushes and swoons as he grabs his hen-scratched notes>. All are spoiler-free, I;m gonna be careful not to ramble tooooo much while flying in coloured sparkly wonderland!! <laughs and crosses his paw sincerely, trying to focus a little at least>

Anywhoooo, let's play! <ahem> As it's the one that sparked this crazy idea...the first movie is..."Naked Gun 2025", staring Liam Neeson.

<wipes tears of laughter from his face as he tries to reply> Oh yes, this is funny! REEEALY funny!! <LOL> If you like deadpan-pun based humour, this it the bomb!! Lots of running gags that work, nice joke writing involved clearlly with some thought behind it, and they get the absurdist humour perfectly. Neeson's a good one to fill the role and OMG the way Neeson plays the role the jokes sometimes write themselves. True "Police Squad" style! No spoilers but yeeeah, let the absurdity wash over you and enjoy the ride!! Laughed my tail off...claw up and recomended!! <lays back dizzily and smiles as he puts a thumb-claw up>

(posted from last night's rambling review...just realized I never actually hit "enter"! <blushes deeply while wiping catnip flakes off his whiskers>)

<the kitty lays back and swoons as he claps excitedly> Wheee!!! Tonight's floaty movie was "Superman" (the new one) and OOOOOO It was a fun movie!!

<deep breath to try and focus a widdle> Ok, so no spoilers unless I saw it in the trailer...but the movie has a great tone! Not too serious and not dour like a darkened "how does this god amonglt men restrain from ruling us all..." BS but an actual FUN movie playing with the characters! Good energy, lots of laughs and yeah some of them were UGH corny but the fact they actually humanized Supes to a likeable degree was nice! Maybe some people would complain but I'm not on of them. He felt like...well...a regular guy...who just happens to have superpowers. It was refreshing!

Oh and YES I have to talk about Krypto and the others a bit becasue EEEEEE they were great!! Super-doggie was PAWSOME and they did him great!! He's not super intelligent or corny but literally a playful loyal jumpy dog...with the power to crack a tree in half accidently in excitement. LOVED HIM!!! Mr Terrific was so terrific it's cool and has the best scenes by far. They NAILED him and the t-spheres that everyone underestimates until they see how slick he uses them...always liked the character and to see him portrayed perfectly? FANKITTY-SQUEEEE!!!! <giggles and takes a bowl, loading it with catnip as he purrs>

Luthor? A slightly different take on 'em to me but I can roll with it! Holt brings a luthor I can believe has been playing a long game for a while now and is charasmatic as well as believable really. I BELIEVE him when he says in a monologue with extrordinary detail precisely why he hates Supes and I believe he believes it too. Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner were fun but TBH they were mostly tools to the plot rather than characters worth talking about.

<he texhales a rainbow plume and grins contentlyl as he lays back and stretches happily> Overall, do I recommend? HELL YEAH!! Loved it and I bet you might too, even if not a supes fn normally. The fun energy of the movie and genuine humour might grab ya anyway and for those like me who know the characters well, I'm feeling respected by the movie. Four claws up!! <lays on his back and lifts all four paws high while trying ans failing to keep his balance as the world spins...>

<purrs loudly while exhaling a rainbow plume, a wide satisfied smile on his face as he turns off the movie and claps excitedly>

OOOOoo, that was PAWWWsome!! The movie I watched was "Ballerina" and without spoiling as usual despite by floaty-tingly state, it's nothing to do with dancing!! <LOL> The movie is in the world of John Wick and is action-movie to the next LEVEL! Best of all though, it's all SMART action!! Like, not mindless killings but a plot that makes sense and has soo much heart. The girl leading is amazing in the role, the fight choreography off the freakin' charts and has a logical flow, mixing things up constantly in the pacing and the direction. The way they played with the genre and made things interesting yet believable (as per that world's rules) was very compelling, and they still found ways to make things fresh (no spoilers on those, gotta see blind)

<purring loudly, he rolls around on his couch and stretches as he giggles and dizzily continues to ramble> It also did NOT make her like some superhuman unrealistic girl-boss, but an honest capable resourceful fighter against people NOT holding back, and with her viciousness neither was she! I literally gasped and applauded over some of the fights, and the movie is non-stop but in a good way. They acknowledged in-movie that she was weaker than her opponents and showed how she trained to work around that. And best of all (minor spoilers but you learn like 10 minutes in so come on!)...having her trained with the same skillsets but focused on her particular focus as a PROTECTOR rather than an ASSASSIN was brilliant and a nice touch (effectively unlike Wick in this world, her clan's trained and hired to does escort missions and bodyguard targets, not take them out.)

<he claps his paws together and nods repeatedly> So YEAH!! Had a great time with it!! Looooved the movie and so highly recommended!!!!

Thanks for the reviews, kittycat, I enjoyed reading them muchly, they were bright and joyful! Also I definitely trust a talking animal's movie opinions over any so-called "professional" reviewer's (unless they are also a talking animal) :3
(I totally furgot about this thread, ehe) :3

<the heavily-relaxed kitty sprawls on the couch giggling, a huge smile on his face as he settles and looks surprised> OK, that...that was surprisingly GOOD!!

Right, where was I? Heck...w-where am I now? OH...RIGHT, CATNIPPED review show!! <lol> And tonight's movie was..."BAMBI, THE RECKONING"

<he exhales a rainbow-plume of catnip as his eyes cross a moment before he shakes his head and focuses> Ok, right away I was expecting this movie to be a cheesefest of lameness, like the others in the "poohverse" (oh fuck why did they have to call it that? <lol>) I was expecting the lamest of effects, acting like a school project or Sharknado, and a plot that was ridiculous. I mean come on, it's a low-budget "Bambi" horror remake right?!?

<he takes another small bowl of catnip before closing his eyes and placing his paw on his chest> WELL, I admit, I was surprised...this movie was no lie, GOOD! Like it's never going to be an award winner, and certainly it's cliche in parts but I have to admit it took itself juuuuust seriously enough to work!! The plot as simple as it is got to the point in minutes (basically mutated deer+ gets revenge on humans) , the design of "Bambi" was actually pretty cool and well realized, tone was consistent...it was just a decent "mutant deer creature terrorizes humans in the woods" sort of thing. Nothing at all really screams "Bambi" of course but you don't care...it's just a fun enough "humans terrrorized by large fucking deer-like thing" ride movie and it's awesome!! BTW the deer and rabbit's totally justified too so you find yourself rooting for the creature half the time. The directing was decent, effects and action just good enough to work, touches of humour that were still appropriate...what can I say, it was just a surprisingly fun movie!!!

<laughs hysterically as he thinks back> I-I mean, OMG they actually had a BUNNY GANG MURDER!!! Like the bunnies were the murderers!! I will say no more but it was glorious!! (the victim 100% deserved it BTW, he kicked a helpless bunny earlier like a football for funsies FFS!! Like, screw that dude...<sticks out toungue and winces>)

S-so yeah, not a bad movie in the end, nature's revenge, fun time...surprisingly recommended as a solid 7/10. Go figure...kitty entertained! <teeheehee>

<the kitty wipes a laughter tear from his face and giggles as he thinks back to WTF he just saw> Wow, ok...this one's hilarious, in a twisted way but I'm entertained!! It's gonna be hard to explain this one sober and catnipped this is gonna be tough to capture tone here but if you want to have fun, tonight's movie was PSYCHO GOREMAN (spelling intentional).

<takes a deep puff and exhales as he swoons and cracks his claws playfully>
Ok, this movie is absurd, full stop. It knows what it is and embraces it fully! So what is it? I can best describe it like so: Think of the Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy combined with the Power Rangers and a touch of Toxic Avenger.

<tilts head confused> Ok, that doesn't help? Well...there's this little 12 year old girl who's a brat and a meanie, power tripping over her brother and generally immature and bossy. (she made him bury himself if he loses a game, and the plot starts when she's making him dig the hole for his body FFS!) There they find this gem that lets them have absolute control over this...well...you know, I'm jjust going to call him a Cosmic Cenobite!! He's a galaxy-destroying force of evil who loves to monologue about "Your torment will be eternal, as you beg for death and I bathe in the blood of your entrails" but insgtead he's forced to obey this girl's every whim. But what's hilatious is he's still evil!! Unashamed and bragging about "Once I am free of your control your planet will be crushed to dust under my power..." while grumbling that he's basically her tea time slave.

But what's funnier is SHE'S A TOTAL BITCH!!! Like seriously, she LOVES the fact he's an over the top gory killer, ripping heads and arms off people while she laughs and her brother's horrified, everytime he tries to freak her out her smile just gets bigger, she literally breaks a CRIUCIFIX in half over her knee saying "There's a new god in town, bitch!" and uses the fragments to rey and stab someone, it's SOOOO over the top it's purposely hilarious!!! The movie calls HIM "Phycho Goreman" but it's clear SHE'S the real psycho, and watching the movie have fun with this idea is frankly hilarious!!

<swoons and purrs as he lays on the couch giggling to himself>
So yeah, if you like Toxic Avenger style humour, this one is for you. If you want something more serious and mature than maybe not. This is definately a genre-style one, but a very well done one for that style!! One claw up and one halfway...

<plays the trailer> Here...if this doesn't convince you one way or the other, I got nothing more:

<the cozy kitty lays back in his chair and nods respectfully, giving a slow clap as he smiles widely> Mmmm, I am SO happy to have been wrong about something!!!!

<he exhales a plume of catnip as he waves his paw> Ya see, I am the hugest ZOOTOPIA fan! Like, the first one. It was to me not just a good movie, or even a cute one with cute characters. Shit, ANY decent Disney movie can do that in their sleep. NO, what Zootipia did was something special. They managed to make the semi-realistic interaction between the species of the WORLD the highlight and the characters were really just us being introduced to the world. The mystery that unfolded, the plot, all extra special but the true magic was the feeling they created when you lived and explored the world they built and HOW it all worked. When I saw it the first time I was floored. To this day I consider it a true FURRY movie as they clearly were not just making "talking animals" but creating a special environment with anamorphic animals that worked together to show how it could work as a plausible beautiful world with amazing design and logic to it. And how do I define a "furry movie"? If you can take every character and replace them with a human without changing a single thing otherwise, you do NOT have a furry movie. Their species must matter in universe for it to be furry, all differences fully acknowledged and handles somehow. Half the fun was the plot and the other half was seeing the adaptations to each species and stuff. The thought behind it all was astounding!!

So when i saw the trailer for Zootopia 2, I wasn't excited. No I was scared. I was scared that they would miss the point. The trailer focused so much on "Judy and Nick, are they a good match?" and with the obvious snake addition fitting in, I thought "Oh no, they're gonna ruin the entire thing!! They can't just introduce a species they all agree to hate and fear!! Is this all just going to be the adventures of Judy and the characters and they turn it into any other generic animal adventure? Just a generic city they built with the focus all on cute gags? What about the world they just built?!? How can they expand on it without destroying it?!? Shit, do I want to watch this now, it might ruin my feelings on the first one!!!"

<takes a deep breath to relax, then another deep toke to relax more and waves his paw reassuringly> Well...like I said, I was never happier to be wrong!! This sequel expanded the world PERFECTLY. This movie kept the focus right on the world where it needed to be. This movie handled the reptile exceptionalism PERFECTLY fitting with what they built already and made it make absolute sense. And the humour and tone and mystery and twists were exactly the same quality as the first one. They understood the job they were being asked to do and delivered. The LITERAL world is expanded, as we get to see different parts of the ZOOTOPIA engineering and how the species work "behind the scenes" as they expand the lore without damaging the existing lore...if anything they deserve each other and mesh well. It's a great sequel, pairing well!!

I'm not even going to talk about the plot. Not a word!! Go in blind and let the story play out. Some of the jokes truly has me in tears laughing, the timing was flawless! You'll guess the first few twists easily, then get floored by the rest of them and how seemlessly they slide into the first movie's lore. The callbacks too are not just corny but actually reasonable. Tight script with no real plot holes I can see, and a VERY fun time!!!

This is exactly what I was afraid of :O
I am super glad it is not like that :3

That sounds PAWtastic (wait, oops, too much of a pun) let's go with SKUNKtastic!! I saw Zootopia 2 the other day and I agree with all you said! Funny thing, the other day I also saw a "review" of someone who had the exact OPPOSITE opinion, having problems exactly with what you said about the behind the scenes species among other things, but bah, what do they know about zany animal people :P Definitely love that the newest character additions, like the conspiracy nut beaver xd, weren't put there just for cheap gags like the trailers suggested, as they contributed a HELL of a ton to the plot! :3

Hmm, how odd, I swear someone "summoned" me in here giggles Ah well, I was just gonna say, I wish they... y'know, they hadn't... done that thing, like always. Could have been better if they had gone the other direction with that, plus cuter!
