Warframe discussion thread

I might finally be caught up on my Nightwaves!

And now I know which three caused me to stop doing them for so long:

Day Trader, the one where you complete a 3-round shutout on The Index (Glast Gambit quest if you haven't done that already). Index is fine if you're doing it normally, good Credit rewards... but trying to do the shutout is insanely annoying especially if you get the wrong map.

Then there's the one where you need to complete 4 Halls of Ascension on Lua. They're special rooms with puzzles that reward the Drift mods. Drift mods can go in your Warframe's Exilus slot and... they're useful for minmaxing stats but that's all I use them for.

I still have these two left, they're tedious but not the worst. And not exactly profitable for me right now aside from Nightwave, but if you ever need Credits then The Index is one of the better ways to get them. (There's a better way in Orb Vallis but you'll need max rank with Solaris United to get there - I would still advise doing that as the missions that unlock from maxing that syndicate give you a massive perk.)

No, I also had to deal with something called Archimedea. At some point you'll unlock the Steel Path, which jacks enemy levels up into 100+. Archimedea... puts them at 250 and the Elite version well into the 300s. Everything is so tanky that you need very specific builds just to clear it... but there's also modifiers you need to consider that will get you better rewards from it. Using specific 'Frames and weapons, or taking fairly steep penalties.

It's essentially true endgame content (one of the possible rewards is a special type of Forma that makes any one mod slot a wild card) so don't worry about it right now. I... only engage with that stuff minimally. I've got a lot of other minor tasks I can still do with Warframe.

EDIT: Now I'm fully caught up.

Honestly, the most likely candidate that caused me to stop Nightwave was the Halls of Ascension. It is EXTREMELY tedious getting just four, and even worse if you're trying to find all seven of the Halls to get one of each Drift mod. You may be better off trading for some of them.

So I just got Excalibur Umbra...and my god I've never felt more bad for a warframe than him. To go from a beloved and decorated hero and father...to forcibly made a warframe and...what he was forced to do by his so called friend. That Ballas guy is a total prick at the end of the day..and as far as I'm aware at the moment..a corpse... but I'll see where that leads.

Warframe probably has the most gut-punches and story twists out of any free-to-play online game.

I will not spoil much of it, but I will say this: You may actually find out that you underestimated Ballas' dickishness here when you get further along.

Given how Ballas acts I'm sure he's done a lot of real dick moves. Still it does leave me to wonder if we'll see other Umbra warframes as Excalibur Umbra wasn't referred to as the only one. Although...I'm not sure if chasing say a Ember Umbra would be a safe bet as with how crazy Excalibur Umbra got I can only imagine an Ember Umbra would be burning people alive. Unlike Excalibur Ember doesn't need to get into melee range but we'll see how things go.

I also did the Duviri Paradox quest last night...the story was confusing or well that whole tale of the king and their three sons part but I'm guessing it's a bug for mobs to run for the hills when battling to the King's platform? I'd be standing there wondering why it's not advancing only to find out one or so of the foes ran for the hills. Went into it thinking I could use the horse outside of the paradox but at the moment that doesn't seem true. Got to try out Volt in there though, interesting frame as I thought he was just a speedster but he's got a good bit of damage to him as well

Edit: Okay after finishing the New War quest line yeah no you were absolutely right Ballas is a literal piece of shit, I'd say I'd love to throw him into the sun but that may be too good for what BS he put me and Lotus through. I hope he's finally dead as if he's not he will be when I'm through with him in game

So, hope you saved your Nightwave cred, because it looks like this is one of those weeks that offers up an Oubliette key.

The Oubliette is... an interesting boss fight. Can't use abilities, instead you're throwing crystals that the boss shoots at you. It's based on one of three storylines that Nightwave had before it became the weekly chore board. I... wasn't there for it. I think it was some sort of investigation? Either way, beating this boss gets you the Vitrica the first time, and guaranteed Riven mods on future trips.

To be honest, I'm glad it's generally months between appearances of that ticket, and you only can hold one of them at a time. That is not a boss you want to fight repeatedly, trust me.

Also, since you mention New War, there's two quests I want to ask if you've completed - Call of the Tempestarii, and The Hex.

Haven't gotten to those yet, I went after Saryn's parts and trying to upgrade my mastery level after New War. Got her parts..the fight for such is so stupid but after I started crafting the parts I had to go on a trip to see family so sadly I haven't started building Saryn proper yet. Was also building weapons I wanted to use for her as...I've mastered a ton of my current ones so they offer no further mastery exp. Funny to say but the ranged melee have been fun to use at times. Not sure how many points I need for ticket but only got 50 points on hand atm, was trying to get more but hey family issues took priority so we'll see where things go

BTW..is there a vendor who sells elemental mods as I'm missing cryo and I think poison for secondary weaponry atm and the random chance is giving me everything but

Cold and Toxin on secondary? It... doesn't look like there's a vendor for either one.

Deep Freeze is on a bunch of B rotations for various mission locations (including Hydron on Sedna), Frostbite (the cold/status hybrid for secondaries) is a random Spy reward for getting all 3 vaults, Pathogen Rounds comes from Hive Sabotage (that's a specific mission on Eris) and some MOAs can drop it, and Pistol Pestilence (toxin/status) comes from a special enemy on the Void missions accessible through Sedna. That's pretty much all I can tell you, unfortunately - it has been a very long time since I first sought out any of those mods.

And Baro has not offered the Prime version of either Deep Freeze or Pathogen Rounds yet (the one he's offered for pistols was Primed Heated Charge).

I see... I'll have to see if I can get lucky with those jobs then as it'd make things a lot easier if I could have the element combos I want when i need them rather than having to wing it. Oh and I regrettably tested that grenade launcher you mentioned.. Penta I think it was..and you were right it's crap. I even tried it with mods that only worked for it like tether bombs and such... it was a waste of a slot. Having to manually detonate the bombs only for the bombs to do barely anything made me think that if only I could i could bludgeon people with it I could make it worth while in some way but that in itself would probably be as effective as smacking a wall with a cardboard tube hoping it'd leave a dent

Edit: I got to mastery 9 tonight but that forced stealth task was annoying, had to really watch their cycles and strike when the others were blind to me. Sadly if one of them gets paranoid the stealth kill prompt doesn't come up till they calm the hell down again. I had to crouch and roll a lot, sprinting is too loud at times and I had to get creative on the last one as one guy is on a podium for all to see so you really gotta pick when to get him as he seems to overlook the rest

13th anniversary event just started.

Three missions each week with rewards sent to the inbox. First is a Grineer Defense, Corpus Disruption, and a Steel Path Grineer Survival.

This week's Nightwave includes the 1500 kill mission so the Disruption and Survival are perfect places to do that.

I'll finally comment on the forced stealth, as well... it has been a long time since I've done rank 9, and beyond rank challenges the only real purpose to stealth is for certain Riven challenges. I will still bring out my Loki once in a while, but I don't even do stealth for the Spy mission set as it's often faster just to rush to the objective.
